    James Wusterbarth

James Wusterbarth embarked on a diverse and impactful career, navigating various fields, including the military, graduate school teaching, regional broadcasting, federal law enforcement, and international contract work. His journey in post-graduate work commenced in Washington D.C. during the 1990s at the Center for Counterterrorism Studies, where he gave monthly briefings on Osama Bin Laden and other rising terrorist leaders. His work at the Center motivated him to get out in the field through military service and the extremely rigorous school known as Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training, or BUD/S. James earned his spot through the highly competitive Officer Candidate School route, where fewer spots are available and far fewer are selected for SEAL training than from any other commissioned or non-commissioned source. Once at BUD/S he successfully completed Hellweek as a boat crew leader and showcased his unrelenting perseverance and strength for seven months of training, never quitting. Despite not being selected to serve in the Special Warfare Community, his commendable performance earned him a position in Naval Flight School, where he fell in love with flying. He deployed across the Mediterranean and took part in Operation Enduring Freedom. He consistently received accolades from his superiors and commanding officers throughout his military service.

Beyond his military career, he has cultivated an extensive skill set and accumulated numerous certifications, reflecting his passion for mastering his environment and continuous learning. He holds multiple FAA Pilot Licenses, a DOT Merchant Mariner Master Captain's License for up to 25 tons, various boating instructor licenses, and a PADI Master Diver certification. With over 35 years as an emergency responder, his qualifications include being a FLETC Certified Backcountry Law Enforcement Ranger, Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructor, National Ski Patrol, Wildland Firefighter with USPA Skydiving License, ICS Search and Rescue Coordinator, FEMA SAR Manager, NR-EMT, and numerous other emergency management roles. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, James exemplified selflessness and courage by voluntarily helping the cleanup efforts at Ground Zero under hazardous conditions. This service demonstrates his commitment to aiding others, with thousands of hours dedicated to voluntary service in catastrophic disasters and emergencies worldwide. As of 2023, his international work experience spans an incredible 34 countries, with his personal travels extending to over 50 nations.
